What is it about true crime fans and the communities they build around their favorite shows? How do the podcasters engage with their fans and use them as inspiration for their work. Ashley Flowers, Crime Junkie and Patrick Hinds, True Crime Obsessed and Meredith Stedman, Tenderfoot TV, will chat with Christy Gressman about how they engage with their communities and create the content that we all obsess over.
In 2017, Patrick Hinds and his co-host Gillian Pensavalle launched True Crime Obsessed, a true crime/comedy podcast that recaps true crime documentaries with humor, sass, and a well-timed garbage bell. TCO has recently been featured in The New York Times and Vulture, and after a series of sold out live shows in New York City, the podcast has launched an international tour including shows in New Orleans, Chicago, Seattle, and London. Patrick previously created the popular theater podcasts Theater People and Broadway Backstory, which were recognized with a Webby honor and nomination, respectively.
Meredith Stedman is a creative producer and podcast co-host for Tenderfoot TV. She is a producer for hit true crime podcasts “Up and Vanished” and “Atlanta Monster,” which together have amassed over 300 million downloads.
Originally from New Orleans, Stedman attended Emory University in Atlanta where her innate love of storytelling led her to double major in English and Film Studies.
Stedman has worked on a variety of film projects in Atlanta since her graduation. She started her journey with Tenderfoot TV as an avid “Up and Vanished” listener, and quickly transitioned to working with Payne Lindsey, Donald Albright and the rest of the team as a writer, editor and overall story-builder for their podcasts.
Christy Gressman develops and produces new shows and manages the Night Vale Presents network. She is the executive producer of its current and upcoming podcasts, including Conversations with People Who Hate Me. She is also the creative producer of The Orbiting Human Circus (of the Air) and other Orbiting Human Circus works, the co-creator and producer of I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats, and an artist and attorney.
